Aker Kvaerner awarded contracts with DuPont

HOUSTON/ OSLO, 19 JUNE 2003: DuPont has awarded JBEK, a 50/50 joint venture between Aker Kvaerner and the US based contractor BE&K, three partnership contracts for DuPont plant sites in the US and Europe. For the joint venture, the total value of the agreement is USD 104 million.

The contracts include work on DuPont facilities in three regions. The first contract covers facilities in Southeastern and Northeastern United States, the second in Mid-America and the third in Germany and Luxembourg.
The first contract, worth approximately USD 75 million, is for full service engineering and design and will cover capital projects, site engineering, and related project services. The Aker Kvaerner office in Charleston, West Virginia, will serve as DuPont's regional centre supporting eleven manufacturing sites in the Mid-America region. BE&K's office in Wilmington, Delaware, will provide similar services for DuPont's North-eastern region. Work will continue into 2006.
The second contract, worth approximately USD 14 million, is for maintenance and reliability improvement services for seven DuPont plant sites in the Southeastern United States and the Texas Gulf Coast. Aker Kvaerner's specialised operations and maintenance organisation, Aker Kvaerner Bowen, in conjunction with BE&K Industrial Services and HSB Reliability Technologies will provide assessment and implementation of programs designed to improve maintenance and reliability practices, processes, and results, including materials management. Work will continue into 2005.
The third contract, worth approximately USD 15 million, is for full service engineering and design. It will cover capital projects engineering and design, site engineering and design, and related project services. The Aker Kvaerner office in Beek (Netherlands) supported by the Aker Kvaerner office in Langenfeld (Germany), will serve as DuPont's regional centre supporting eleven manufacturing sites in Germany, Luxembourg, Austria and The Netherlands. Work will continue into 2006.
