FRANCOIS VIENS APPOINTED PRESIDENT, CEO, AND DIRECTOR OF MAXIMUS
Maximus Ventures Ltd. has appointed Francois Viens as president, chief executive officer and a director of Maximus, effective Dec. 15, 2006. He replaces Frederick Graybeal who retired and who will remain a director and consultant to Maximus.
Mr. Viens previously held the position of vice-president of business development and exploration for Cambior Inc., where, from 2004 to 2006, he was responsible for precious metals exploration, project evaluations and business development programs worldwide, reporting to the president. In 2002 and 2003, Mr. Viens was vice-president exploration of Ariane Gold Corp., and was responsible for resource definition, permitting and initial development of the Camp Caiman gold deposit in French Guiana. From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Viens was vice-president exploration of Hope Bay Gold Corp. Inc., where he managed advanced exploration work on several gold discoveries in the Hope Bay gold belt in Nunavut, which are now being evaluated for production by Miramar Mining Corp. Prior to 2000, Mr. Viens held various exploration and mine operations positions with Cambior, principally in the Val d'Or region of Quebec, at the Omai mine in Guyana, and the Gross Rosebel mine in Suriname. He was also chief geologist at Sigma Mines for six years. Mr. Viens received a BSc in geological engineering from Ecole Polytechnique in 1978. Mr. Viens will establish an office for Maximus in the greater Montreal area.
