Lukashenko supports development of cooperation with Russia in potash fertilisers markets Posted on July 22, 2013 by Asher Berube July 22, 2013 (Source: Indrus) — Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko spoke out on the necessity of development of the cooperation between Russia and Belarus in production of potash fertilisers for improvement of the positions in international markets. “We are trying to improve our presence both in traditional to us and in new, promising markets of fertilisers,” he said on Monday. “Thus, we should improve the Belarus-Russia cooperation in this sphere.” Earlier, he said, the Belarus Potash Company was organised to improve effectiveness both of Belaruskali and Uralkali. “We see that the decision was balanced and timely, as from the moment of its founding, the company has gained great authority, and it is a player in the global market,” Lukashenko said. Meanwhile, lately the sphere has been changing, he continued, and now it is time to make decisions how to be working in future. The Belarus-Russia joint working group, the president said, has finished its work “but still there remain different approaches and views on the issues.” This, he said, it is necessary to “make a final decision and to have a single position on potash from all the authorities.” Speaking about the sector’s development, the president pointed to “new producers, who would want to work in future via the Belarusian potash company.” The government, he continued, also considers expanding the opportunities of the Belarus-Russia company. “Jointly with the Russians it will be easier for us to observe our interests,” Lukashenko said. - See more at: investorintel.com/potash-phosphate-press/...hash.4muceNWj.dpuf
