Auto broke ground yesterday on its new specialist
vehicle factory in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning
Province, China, the automaker's a new move to
venture outside the traditional automotive sector,
The Beijing News reported Friday.
Brilliance executives revealed that the new specialist
vehicle company would have mixed ownership
structure in the future. Moreover, Brilliance Auto also
plans to establish a joint venture with Toyota Motor
based on the Shengyang plant at the end of this
year.
With total investment of 570 million yuan ($84.7
million), the new plant will be used for development,
production and sales of various specialist vehicles.
On July 15, one of Mercedes-Benz's Chinese
assembly plants signed an agreement with Brilliance
Auto for cooperation on the Mercedes-Benz Specialist
Vehicles.
China's special-purpose vehicle sales will break 1
million units this year, from which Brilliance expects
to get a 20% market share, Qi Yumin, Chairman of
Brilliance Auto said earlier.
