Softbank betrachte ich auch nicht als Bank.
Aber skandalgeschütttelt ist Korea Thrunet schon, ist Lucent auch, steigen beide trotzdem.

SEOUL, South Korea and NEW YORK, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
Korea Thrunet Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: KOREA) ("Thrunet"), Korea"s largest cable modem broadband Internet-access services provider and a major provider of enterprise network services, today announced its year-end broadband Internet subscriber base figures. With a net addition of 44,732 during the month of December, the Company"s broadband Internet subscriber base totaled 1,312,248 as of the end of year 2001. The Company also announced today that it has signed a contract with Munwha Broadcasting Corporation ("MBC"), one of three major nationwide television-broadcasting companies in Korea, to upgrade the bandwidth capacity of MBC"s existing leased line services. Additionally, Thrunet has formalized a business alliance with Roonets Co., Ltd.("Roonets"), a provider of hotel in-room information system solutions, to jointly provide hotel Internet connection services.
The Company exceeded its year-end subscriber target of 1.25 million, with its broadband Internet subscriber base for 2001 reaching 1,312,248, a 72.7% increase from 760,822 subscribers in 2000. In the midst of fierce competition in the broadband Internet access market in Korea where many competitors relied heavily on promotional subsidies and low-priced services to acquire new subscribers, Thrunet successfully grew its subscriber base by focusing on improving the quality of services and by providing various value-added services to attract new customers. In addition, by joining Powercomm"s Multi-Internet Service Provider ("M-ISP") area in early 2001, the Company was also able to expand its service coverage without additional network investment. Through the Company"s successful initiatives, the Company maintained the largest market share amongst its peers in the high-end service market of 1.5Mbps or higher, despite price competition in the market reflecting lower-priced service promotion.
Separately, Thrunet announced that it has signed a contract with MBC to increase the bandwidth currently employed by MBC. Presently, MBC is leasing 128kbps of network capacity from Thrunet to connect its Seoul headquarters with 19 regional stations nationwide. Under the contract, Thrunet will establish four metro nodes in major cities throughout the country. Connection for these four nodes will be upgraded to T3 (45Mbps). The remaining regional stations will be connected from these nodes with upgraded T1 lines (1.544Mbps). With this new contract, the Company expects to increase its revenues from MBC by approximately 250% to KRW 1.8 billion per annum. As other major companies, including broadcasting companies, are considering upgrading their existing network capacity to be able to survive within the up-and-coming digital era, Thrunet believes a great opportunity exists to increase its enterprise network revenues with minimum additional investment by utilizing its existing network.
Under the contract with Roonets, Thrunet will provide the leased lines needed for in-room telecommunications via Internet access, while Roonets will provide its Tourism & Business Information System ("TBIS") solution, an integrated information system that allows hotels to provide their customers with access to Internet services within each room. Thrunet and Roonets already have jointly established in-room information systems for two major hotels in Korea, and with the 2002 World Cup in Korea, Thrunet anticipates further opportunities to arise in line with other hotels preparing to establish in-room information systems.
