TeraForce Technology (TERA) is surging 20 cents, or 38.5 percent, to 72 cents, on heavy volume of 1.86 million shares. The Richardson, Texas, computing and optical network technology design firm said its DNA Computing unit has secured a contract to supply single and quad processor versions of its PowerPC board line to an undisclosed "major defense contractor" for use in an advanced avionics system. TeraForce expects the value of the initial phase of this supply program, which has already started shipments, to reach $18 million.
