Suzlon Energy Q2 consolidated loss at Rs 355.52 crore
Suzlon Energy Ltd has announced the Unaudited financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2009. The Company has posted a net loss of Rs (1849.10) million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 where as the same was at net profit of Rs 169.80 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2008. Total Income is Rs 6795.80 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 where as the same was at Rs 22646.60 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2008.
The Group has posted consolidated net loss after share in associate's profit and minority interest of Rs (3555.20) million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 where as the same was at net loss of Rs (228.40) million for the quarter ended September 30, 2008. Total Income is Rs 48554.70 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 where as the same was at Rs 70220.50 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2008.
REpower became a subsidiary of the Company with effect from June 06, 2008 and the Company is holding stake of 90.72% as on September 30, 2009. The consolidated financial figures for the half year ended September 30, 2008 and year ended March 31, 2009 inter alia include the financial figures of REpower from June 06, 2008. Accordingly, the consolidated financial results for the half year ended September 30, 2009 are to that extent not comparable with the consolidated financial results of the prior period presented.
(a). The Company has treated all Convertible Bonds as monetary liability and accordingly restated the liability based on the exchange rate prevailing as at the end of the respective quarter. Further, the Company has opted to amortise the foreign exchange losses on long-term foreign currency monetary items, in accordance with the notification issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on March 31, 2009.
As explained in (a) above, since the Company has opted for amortisation of forex losses, from the quarter ended March 31, 2009, the results for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2008 do not include the impact of this option and are to that extent not comparable with the results of the current quarter and half year ended September 30, 2009.
The stock closed the day at Rs.66.90, down by Rs.4.45 or 6.24%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.75.40 and low of Rs.66.
The total traded quantity was 13195910 compared to 2 week average of 6392438.

New Delhi: India’s biggest maker of wind-turbine generators, Suzlon Energy Ltd, declined the most in over six months on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday after posting a wider loss than analysts estimated as equipment orders slowed.
Suzlon fell 13%, the most since 16 April, to Rs58.25. The shares had their longest losing streak since the 10 days ended 10 October 2008. The benchmark Sensex declined 3.1%.
Orders, including those from India, may improve in the coming months after being delayed by the global recession, chief operating officer Sumant Sinha said in an interview. The company is currently refinancing borrowings, which stand at Rs13,700 crore, he said.
“If the company is able to refinance its debt, it will be a positive for the stock,” Bhargav Buddhadev, an analyst at Noble Group who has a “positive” rating on the stock, said over phone from Mumbai. “We feel that the worst is over for the company.”
The loss in the three months ended 30 September, including that of units, widened to Rs356 crore from Rs130 crore a year earlier, Ahmedabad-based Suzlon had said in an emailed statement on 31 October. The average of 11 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg was a loss of Rs87.80 crore. Sales fell 31% to Rs4,790 crore.
Suzlon scrapped a rights offer last year when the markets tumbled. The turbine maker said it may sell all or part of its stake in unit Hansen Transmissions International NV to cut some of the debt taken over the past two years to complete the acquisition of Hamburg-based REpower Systems AG.
As much as $750 million (Rs3,525 crore) of loans taken for acquisitions will be refinanced in the next 10-15 days, Sinha said, and added that the firm expects to refinance all its debt in the next two months.
Wind power equipment makers got fewer orders this year because major economies are still struggling with last year’s financial crisis.
Orders announced by wind-turbine makers dropped 56% in the first half of 2009, according to a September report by Denmark-based MAKE Consulting.
Suzlon lost sales last year after some blades cracked and customers in the US cancelled orders. Repairs were completed in September at a cost of $100 million, the company had said on 13 October.
“The blades issue has been addressed and put behind us,” Sinha said. “Our business visibility will improve as the industry starts getting orders. Between REpower and Suzlon, we have orders in hand of 3,000MW, which is comparable to our competitors.”

Wind Farm Now Producing 42 MW of Clean Energy
CHICAGO, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Suzlon Wind Energy Corp., the North American
subsidiary of Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL), announced the early completion of
the Silver Sage Windpower Project, a Duke Energy wind farm in Cheyenne,
Wyoming, that is comprised of 20 Suzlon S88-2.1 megawatt wind turbines.
The Silver Sage Wind Farm began operating in early October, more than two
months ahead of the targeted completion date. In total, Duke Energy has more
than 130 megawatts (MW) of installed Suzlon S88 wind turbines located in
Wyoming and West Texas.
"We believe Suzlon works harder than anyone in the industry to put the
customer first - from our sales team all the way through to the construction
and service teams, and warranty program," said Andris Cukurs, CEO of Suzlon
Wind Energy Co. "Getting projects online sooner means we give them an earlier
start on their return on investment and add green electrons that much sooner
to the grid. We appreciate the fine partnership with Duke to make it all come
together."
At full capacity, the 20 Suzlon wind turbines are capable of producing 42 MW
of wind-generated electricity, which is enough energy to power nearly 20,000
average US homes.* Cheyenne Light Fuel & Power, a utility subsidiary of Black
Hills Corp., and Colorado-based Platte River Power Authority are buying the
renewable energy generated by Duke Energy at its Silver Sage Project.
In addition to supplying and building the turbines, Suzlon is providing
operations and maintenance at Silver Sage through a five-year service
agreement with Duke Energy. Suzlon also supplied the 14 S88 turbines in use at
Duke Energy's nearby Happy Jack Windpower Project, a 29-MW wind farm that
entered commercial operation in September 2008.
Suzlon has more than 1,600 megawatts of wind turbine capacity installed in the
U.S. and a total of 130 megawatts through three projects with Duke Energy.

Dialogverfahren Windenergie-Repowering geht zu Ende
- 65 Fachleute diskutierten Ergebnisse in Bremen
Bremen (iwr-pressedienst) - Mit dem Abschlussworkshop der Dialogreihe "Repowering von Windenergieanlagen in der Metropolregion Bremen-Oldenburg"
ist ein spannendes und für alle Beteiligten aufschlussreiches Projekt zu Ende gegangen. Im Fokus der Veranstaltung stand die Präsentation und abschließende Diskussion der Ergebnisse der vier vorausgegangenen Workshops. Darüber hinaus nutzten die 65 Teilnehmer aus Verwaltung und Politik, Windbranche, Natur- und Umweltschutzorganisationen zum vorerst letzten Mal die Möglichkeit, sich aktiv miteinander auszutauschen und zu vernetzen. Die Ergebnisse des durch die Windenergie-Agentur Bremerhaven/Bremen e.V. (WAB) organisierten und vom BMU geförderten Projekts werden Anfang 2010 in Form einer Handreichung veröffentlicht und sollen insbesondere kommunalen Planern, Windpark-Betreibern und Bürgern Lösungsansatze für ein erfolgreiches und akzeptiertes Repowering aufzeigen.
"Als erstes Land weltweit haben wir in Deutschland die Chance, mit einem sinnvollen Repowering von Windenergieanlagen einen sehr großen Beitrag zur weiteren Reduzierung der CO2 Emissionen beizutragen. Mit einer geschickten Planung und von allen Seiten akzeptierten Vorgehensweise können wir allein auf den Bestandsflächen von Windenergieanlagen die installierte Leistung um 50 Prozent erhöhen," so Norbert Giese, Geschäftsführer der Planungsgesellschaft GefuE GmbH, eines der im Dialogverfahren eingebundenen Unternehmen.
"Das Dialogverfahren zum Repowering bietet die Chance, einen gangbaren Weg für das Ersetzen älterer Windenergieanlagen durch leistungsstärkere zu beschreiben und dabei mögliche Konflikte zu minimieren," kommentiert Michael Bürger vom Senator für Umwelt, Verkehr, Bau, Verkehr und Europa des Landes Bremen, der das Dialogverfahren unterstützte. Die hervorragende Kompetenz der Metropolregion Bremen-Oldenburg im Bereich der Windenergienutzung werde seiner Meinung nach auch auf diesem für die Erschließung weiterer Klimaschutzpotentiale wichtigen Feld beispielgebend sein.
"Natürlich ist es für uns als Finanzierer von großem Interesse, dass die am Planungsprozess Beteiligten gut zusammenarbeiten und die Bürger mit einbezogen werden, damit die Projekte möglichst schnell umgesetzt werden,"

Hartmut Kluge von dem führenden Windparkfinanzierer Bremer Landesbank ergänzt: "Durch dass EEG 2009 wurden die Bedingungen für die Durchführung von Repowering-Vorhaben deutlich verbessert. Zusammen mit der verbesserten Marktverfügbarkeit von Windenergieanlagen und dem aktuellen Zinsniveau ergibt sich derzeit ein günstiges Zeitfenster."
Rückblickend lässt sich eine kontinuierliche hohe Beteiligung der verschiedenen Fachdisziplinen am gesamten Verfahren seit Februar 2009 feststellen. "Die Zusammenarbeit mit erfahrenen Moderatoren bzw.
Mediatoren hat sich für ein gutes gegenseitiges Verständnis als goldrichtig gezeigt. Wir gehen davon aus, dass viele der hier entstandene Kontakte langfristig bestehen bleiben und beispielgebend für die gute Zusammenarbeit von Kommunen und Betreibern werden," fasst WAB-Projektleiterin Daniela Müllhäuser abschließend zusammen.

- 65 Fachleute diskutierten Ergebnisse in Bremen
Bremen (iwr-pressedienst) - Mit dem Abschlussworkshop der Dialogreihe "Repowering von Windenergieanlagen in der Metropolregion Bremen-Oldenburg"
ist ein spannendes und für alle Beteiligten aufschlussreiches Projekt zu Ende gegangen. Im Fokus der Veranstaltung stand die Präsentation und abschließende Diskussion der Ergebnisse der vier vorausgegangenen Workshops. Darüber hinaus nutzten die 65 Teilnehmer aus Verwaltung und Politik, Windbranche, Natur- und Umweltschutzorganisationen zum vorerst letzten Mal die Möglichkeit, sich aktiv miteinander auszutauschen und zu vernetzen. Die Ergebnisse des durch die Windenergie-Agentur Bremerhaven/Bremen e.V. (WAB) organisierten und vom BMU geförderten Projekts werden Anfang 2010 in Form einer Handreichung veröffentlicht und sollen insbesondere kommunalen Planern, Windpark-Betreibern und Bürgern Lösungsansatze für ein erfolgreiches und akzeptiertes Repowering aufzeigen.
"Als erstes Land weltweit haben wir in Deutschland die Chance, mit einem sinnvollen Repowering von Windenergieanlagen einen sehr großen Beitrag zur weiteren Reduzierung der CO2 Emissionen beizutragen. Mit einer geschickten Planung und von allen Seiten akzeptierten Vorgehensweise können wir allein auf den Bestandsflächen von Windenergieanlagen die installierte Leistung um 50 Prozent erhöhen," so Norbert Giese, Geschäftsführer der Planungsgesellschaft GefuE GmbH, eines der im Dialogverfahren eingebundenen Unternehmen.
"Das Dialogverfahren zum Repowering bietet die Chance, einen gangbaren Weg für das Ersetzen älterer Windenergieanlagen durch leistungsstärkere zu beschreiben und dabei mögliche Konflikte zu minimieren," kommentiert Michael Bürger vom Senator für Umwelt, Verkehr, Bau, Verkehr und Europa des Landes Bremen, der das Dialogverfahren unterstützte. Die hervorragende Kompetenz der Metropolregion Bremen-Oldenburg im Bereich der Windenergienutzung werde seiner Meinung nach auch auf diesem für die Erschließung weiterer Klimaschutzpotentiale wichtigen Feld beispielgebend sein.
"Natürlich ist es für uns als Finanzierer von großem Interesse, dass die am Planungsprozess Beteiligten gut zusammenarbeiten und die Bürger mit einbezogen werden, damit die Projekte möglichst schnell umgesetzt werden,"
versichert Dr. Heiko Staroßom, Vorstand und Klimabotschafter der Sparkasse Bremen. Hartmut Kluge von dem führenden Windparkfinanzierer Bremer Landesbank ergänzt: "Durch dass EEG 2009 wurden die Bedingungen für die Durchführung von Repowering-Vorhaben deutlich verbessert. Zusammen mit der verbesserten Marktverfügbarkeit von Windenergieanlagen und dem aktuellen Zinsniveau ergibt sich derzeit ein günstiges Zeitfenster."
Rückblickend lässt sich eine kontinuierliche hohe Beteiligung der verschiedenen Fachdisziplinen am gesamten Verfahren seit Februar 2009 feststellen. "Die Zusammenarbeit mit erfahrenen Moderatoren bzw.
Mediatoren hat sich für ein gutes gegenseitiges Verständnis als goldrichtig gezeigt. Wir gehen davon aus, dass viele der hier entstandene Kontakte langfristig bestehen bleiben und beispielgebend für die gute Zusammenarbeit von Kommunen und Betreibern werden," fasst WAB-Projektleiterin Daniela Müllhäuser abschließend zusammen.
Die Ergebnisse der Workshopreihe werden Ende Februar 2010 als Handreichung veröffentlicht. Ergänzt wird diese durch eine Fallsammlung der Deutschen WindGuard GmbH, in der Fallbeispiele von Repowering-Projekten gesammelt und aufbereitet werden. Interessierte können sich auf der Projektwebsite

positiv zu bemerken finde ich, daß die mühlen trotz des anrückenden winters bis in den novemebr hineein gestellt wurden und giese feststellt, daß sie die anlagen in der schönwetterperiode - wohl mit dem equiment von deme - innerhalb eines tages (nur die anlage selbst wohl - fundamente gesondert) stellen können.
beim cc deutete petersen obendrein an, daß sich offshore einiges an aufträgen in der pipeline befindet - in einer phase in der man eher auf einen rebound des auftragseingangs onshore wartet wäre es sehr erfreulich, wenn 2010 das jahr des kick-offs der offshore-aufträge würde ...
zu suzlon :
nach meiner unmassgeblichen meinung hat suzlon für die 35% an hansen in anbetracht des schuldenbergs, den sie vor sich her schieben, und in anbetracht der summen die tanti und co in ansatz gebracht haben für die hansen-anteile reichlich wenig bekommen ...
naja, bin mal gespannt, wie die refi am ende ausgeht und wann suzlon genug geld beisammen hat um hier ein paar leute auszuzahlen - oder ob sie am ende nicht doch noch daran scheitern ...
mein motto : je länger es dauert - desto besser wird 's ...

If you look into the guidance of REpower, it is one of the best in the whole wind industry because they are growing at much faster pace that the wind industry. Wind industry is actually de-growing in this CY09 and most probably in CY10 as well or maybe flat in CY10. But REpower is actually growing still at 15-20% and that to at the revenue levels. Their EBIT margins have improved from 2.5 to 7%. So REpower, when you come to that Rs 55 levels that you are talking about, REpower would itself contribute close to Rs 40. You have Suzlon which has a capacity of maybe three times REpower but it has balance sheet issues. So I think that is the bottom

die nächsten 180 tage könnte somit erstmal ruhe herrschen - dann wird man sehen - "prinzipiell" könnte suzlon auch die restlichen 26% anteile an hansen gegen die ausstehenden 9% repower-anteile anbieten - das würde pi mal daumen in der dann vorlegenden situation vielleicht passen und beide seiten hätten etwas davon - ist aber wohl eher (zu) schwierig ...

mich nervt eher der schon fast 180 Tage dauernde "Kurslock" bei Re. Seit Anfang Juni geht da praktisch gar nichts mehr, während die Börsen rund um den Globus neue Jahreshöchststände verkünden...
