"Analysts are looking for decreased profit for Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan when the company reports its results for the first quarter on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan reported profit of 63 cents a year ago, but the consensus estimate calls for earnings per share of 35 cents this time around.
Over the past month, the consensus estimate has jumped from 34 cents, but it’s below the estimate of 46 cents from three months ago. For the fiscal year, analysts are projecting earnings of $1.65 per share. After being $2.10 billion a year ago, analysts project revenue to drop 29% year-over-year to $1.49 billion for the quarter. For the year, revenue is projected to come in at $6.19 billion.
Profit has fallen in each of the last two quarters. In the most recent quarter, profit dipped 59% year-over-year, and the figure dropped 45% in the third quarter.
The company has reported decreasing revenue in the last three quarters. The year-over-year drop in revenue was 27% in the fourth quarter. Prior to that, revenue fell 29% in the third quarter and 11% in the second quarter year-over-year.
Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan is an integrated fertilizer and related industrial and feed products company. Mosaic, also in the non-metallic mining industry, will report earnings on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Analysts are expecting earnings of $0.58 per share for Mosaic."
