YRC Worldwide Raises Outlook (ABFS) (CNW) (KNX) (YRCW)
July 15, 2011 at 8:31 am by SR Staff in: Stock Analysts Comment
YRC Worldwide Inc. (YRCW), the struggling trucking company, yesterday declared a rosy financial outlook for fiscal 2011. The company estimated that its fiscal 2011 revenue will rise by a whopping 14% to $4.93 billion compared with $4.33 billion in fiscal 2010. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and other charges will be around $209.8 million, a considerable increase of 184% from $73.9 million in fiscal 2010.
YRC Worldwide has been reeling under the threat of bankruptcy resulting from a significant fall in freight volume coupled with its highly leveraged balance sheet. Although the U.S. trucking industry is recovering from recession, YRC Worldwide fails to cope with this current recovery. The company’s viability depends on its ability to become profitable but unfortunately, we do not expect it to reach that stage any time soon.
The company is facing major challenges including sustaining liquidity, dilution of preferred stock, loss of customers and a competitive LTL (less than truckload) market. Trucking industry remains highly competitive. YRC Worldwide is gradually losing market share to its competitors such as Arkansas Best Corp. (ABFS), Con-way Inc. (CNW), and Knight Transportation Inc. (KNX).
The company is trying to deter the imminent financial collapse in every possible way. Despite prudent moves to manage liquidity, we believe YRC Worldwide must stop cash consumption for operations. In our view, the company’s near-term bankruptcy risks still persist. Of late, management has taken some measures such as an aggressive pricing strategy and emission control to streamline its operations.
On July 11, 2011, YRC Worldwide crossed a major hurdle for its restructuring plan. The company announced that it has secured commitments for a 3-year $400 million asset-backed loan facility, which will replace its existing asset-backed securitization facility.
Earlier in April 2011, YRC Worldwide entered into a definitive agreement with its secured lenders, pension funds, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to inject new capital to improve the company’s sagging liquidity condition. This restructuring plan will inject $100 million in new capital to eliminate a portion of the debt and is expected to be closed by July 22, 2011. Management has also decided to sell around $40 million of real estate assets in 2011.
We maintain our long-term Neutral recommendation on YRC Worldwide. Currently, it holds a short-term Zacks #4 Rank (Sell) on the stock.

UPS Adopts Mark-To-Market Accounting Method; Warns Of Weaker 4Q Net
DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) said it is changing the way it accounts for gains and losses related to its pension plans, saying the system is more transparent, but warned of an $827 million pre-tax charge for the change this fiscal year.
The change has no effect on the actual pension plans.
The shipping company will switch to recording pension-related gains and losses each year, rather than spreading the impact over several years. It follows several other major companies that have recently adopted the accounting method, including Honeywell International Inc. (HON), International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) and AT&T Inc. (T).
The accounting change will reduce fourth-quarter earnings by 51 cents a share, but should raise adjusted earnings by 3 cents. Full-year earnings will be reduced by 41 cents, but adjusted earnings will rise by 12 cents.
The company previously forecast adjusted earnings of $4.15 to $4.40 for the year.
A market-to-market adjustment will be made in the fourth quarter of each year going forward.
International growth has kept overall volume rising lately as U.S. volume has stagnated. But, UPS has been increasingly wary of how business in the U.S. will hold up as the economic outlook grows cloudier. UPS has also offset climbing fuel costs with some increased shipping rates.
In October, UPS said its third-quarter earnings rose in results the company said were driven by its supply chain/freight segment.
Shares closed Thursday at $75.84 and were inactive premarket. The stock is up 6% over the past three months.

Earnings per share increased 28.3% from 46 cents a year ago on strong growth across most segments. The current growth trend in freight rates arising from tighter truckload market; coupled with growing demand for intermodal and higher fuel surcharges continued to support the company's earnings throughout 2011.
Adjusted earnings for the quarter exclude the negative impact of $3.9 million (or 2 cents per diluted share) related to executive retirees and charitable contributions.
Adjusted earnings for fiscal 2011 were $2.11, up 35.3% year over year.

YRC verkauf ein Stück Land für ungefähr 8,5$ Millonen ;-))
YRC to sell Akron facilityJan 27, 2012 11:01 AM
YRC Worldwide Inc. is selling a 270,000-sq.-ft. building in Akron, OH, as part of plans to reduce its presence in Ohio, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
The facility is the former headquarters of Roadway.
The sale of the building at 1077 Gorge Blvd. will prompt the move of at least 100 employees to other Ohio facilities. Another 50 employees will have the option to move to jobs in Kansas, South Dakota and Iowa. Between 50 and 100 Akron workers will be let go, according to the report.
California-based Industrial Realty Group Owner Stuart Lichter — who is also developing the Goodyear headquarters in Akron — is acquiring the property from YRC. A sale price has not been disclosed, but Summit County appraised the building and land at about $8.5 million, the newspaper reports.

Keep on truckin'
Hey, stranger things have happened. forum-media.finanzen.net/forum/smiley/smiley-laughing.gif" style="max-width:560px" alt="" />Just look at trucking giant YRC Worldwide, which at one point was a sure candidate for bankruptcy, but has managed to bypass disaster. It's not a healthy trucker yet, but it's no longer on the side of the road with four flats either.
The trucking industry is on the road to recovery, according to the American Trucking Association, as for-hire truck tonnage forum-media.finanzen.net/forum/smiley/smiley-laughing.gif" style="max-width:560px" alt="" />soared 6.8% in December, well ahead of expectations and November's anemic 0.3% increase. Tonnage was up more than forum-media.finanzen.net/forum/smiley/smiley-laughing.gif" style="max-width:560px" alt="" />10% last month. To underscore the improvement, JB Hunt (Nasdaq: JBHT ) just reported results that were ahead of analyst expectations as revenues surged 18% in the fourth quarter, generating a 26% increase in operating profits. Con-way and Old Dominion Freight Lines are scheduled to report earnings next week.
forum-media.finanzen.net/forum/smiley/smiley-laughing.gif" style="max-width:560px" alt="" />. As the country's third largest less-than-truckload carrier, YRC still needs to negotiate the tricky landscape of Teamster work rules that hamper its ability to fully gain control of the wheel.

Die amerikanische Wirtschaft erholt sich, die Arbeitslosigkeit sinkt. Wenn sich dieser Trend stabilisiert, hat Präsident Obama gute Chancen auf eine Wiederwahl im November.
